Can I make changes to my tour booking? In order to ensure the best possible experience, Bare Wine Tours makes every effort to personalize your tour and secure your requested date and times, including committing our vehicles and tour guides to your reservation. Advance appointments are required at wineries especially May - September. They book up fast! We realize how hard it can be to plan for large groups of people, and we remain flexible even after booking your tour. However, we ask that you please give us as much notice as possible when a change does occur, so that we can do our best to ensure you get the day that you deserve. As we are working with many other businesses, changes might not always be possible, and charges may occur in advance. Please review our cancellation policy prior to booking to avoid disappointment should you need to make a change or cancel within 7 days of your tour.
-
Are Kelowna wineries open year round? Many wineries are open year round. However, many also are just open seasonally due to limited inventories.
-
Can I bring my children on the tour?In accordance with provincial legislation, only adults aged 19 and over are permitted to drink alcohol. Children 18 and under are not permitted on our public group tours. For private tours, we are more than happy to accommodate children accompanied by a parent. Please inquire at the time of booking.
-
What time of year is best for wine tours? You can wine tour all-year-round in Kelowna but some wineries are open seasonally due to their size and limited wine inventory. The peak-season is May to September due to the sunshine. If you like the busy cool crowd summer vibes then the peak season is the ideal time to visit. However, if you like a more chilled, quiet, and intimate vibe, then the shoulder season months of October, November, March, and April will be the perfect time to book a wine tour.
-
How much is the deposit to secure a wine tour date?Generally, we require a 15% deposit to secure your wine tour date. If you add any premium venues or experiences (e.g. Mission Hill) then the extra charge will be taken along with your 15% deposit. This is because we need to pay these fees upfront to the wineries. We will do everything we can to return these charges to you should your circumstances change, however we are held accountable to the wineries cancellation terms and conditions, which are often 48 hours notice.
-
Can I bring alcohol or drink in the van?Unfortunately it is against the law in British Columbia to consume alcohol in a motor vehicle. We always encourage a good time on a wine tour but ask that you please respect local laws. The times between wineries are a good time to drink water and snack to refresh your palette and pace yourself for a day full of wine tasting.
-
What is the cancellation policy?Upon reservation, Bare Wine Tours will request a deposit to confirm your reservation. Provided that at least 14 days notice is provided we will return your deposit to you without any issue. If less than 14 days notice is provided we may use your deposit to cover the cost of any advanced bookings with the wineries if we cannot recoup those fees. In addition, canceling or reducing the number of guests less than 7 days prior to the reservation date may result in 100% charge of the original full reservation. Should alternate dates be available, every effort will be made to accommodate your reservation without penalty. Extenuating circumstances will be considered on a case by case basis. Please note: To comply with our card providers recommended identity theft and fraud prevention measures, we require photo identification to match your card details before refunds will be issued.
-
Can I bring my pet?As much as we love pets, we don’t allow them on wine tours for hygiene and cleanliness reasons. No matter how cute and adorable they may be!
-
Can I bring food and snacks? You can absolutely bring snacks in addition to those already provided. We just ask that you please be respectful when eating in the vehicle, and be aware that any soiling or stains of upholstery may result in additional cleaning charges being held or charged.
-
Does my wine tour still run if it’s raining? No matter the weather you can’t stop a good wine tour! In fact if it’s raining in Kelowna we would question what else you are going to do? You can’t enjoy the lake or beach, golf and hiking aren't fun in the rain. Rainy days are perfect for a wine tour. All wine tastings occur under cover and we can provide umbrellas for chaperoning you from the vehicle to each venue.
-
How do wine tours work?If you book a wine tour, you can expect that we take care of all the tasting fees and bookings. If you choose a full day tour we will make you a lunch reservation. We always pick you up and drop you off at your accommodation so that no one needs to drive. You’ll get a fun, kind, and knowledgeable local tour guide to anticipate your every need. They will carry and organize your wine purchases. They will take as many pictures as you desire and often have some great tips on the best locations and entertaining poses. The guides often recommend some of the best local BC wines and eats based on your preferences. They will do their best to introduce you to a winemaker, and if you like, provide insights into the winemaking process.
-
What should I wear to an Okanagan wine tour? There isn’t a formal dress code at the wineries. It is often a special event for many groups though and so they do tend to get dressed up a little. Why not show off your best summer dress and hat? Whatever your style, we recommend you wear clothing appropriate to the weather.
-
Can non-drinkers join a wine tour?Wine tours are fun for non-drinkers also and we offer discounted rates for those along for the ride only. We also provide a delicious natural soft drink (e.g. San Pellegrino) in addition to the regular cheese, chocolates, and snacks regularly provided to guests.
-
Do you accept solo travellers? We absolutely welcome single travellers. It helps if you are in a central Kelowna location as we need to make the logistics work for everyone on our tours to ensure an awesome experience. We want all our guests to spend the majority of their time in the wineries and not in the vehicle commuting.
-
Can you do wine tours in the winter? We offer tours all-year around, but in the winter we are more selective of the road conditions and we can only offer tours to private groups of 4 or more guests. In addition, not all wineries are open in the low season so the choice of wineries may also be limited.

How long do wine tours last? Our full-day wine tours start around 10:30 am and finish around 4-5:30pm, which includes 5 tasting venues and a lunch reservation. Our half-day wine tours are typically 3 - 4 hours and include up to 4 tasting venues. We have a 10am start or a 2pm start for our half day tours. Our private wine tours can be customized to fit in with your plans. Typically wineries are open from 10am until 6:30pm during the peak season.
-
Which wineries do we visit? The wineries you visit will depend on the tour area selected. A list of the wineries in each area can be found on the tour description pages. We are always happy to accommodate winery requests on private tours but this may not be possible on our public tours.
-
How many wineries should you visit in a day?If you’re on a half-day tour you will visit 3 or 4 wineries and if you do a full day you will visit 5 wineries. Any more than this and it all starts to taste the same, and you may get a little out-of-hand!
-
What is the best month to visit Kelowna? It depends how you define best? The hottest month is July and it’s also not surprisingly the peak month to visit Kelowna. Therefore you should expect traffic to be busy and the crowds swarming. Personally I prefer the months either side of July!
-
Which experiences are best for wine tours & tastings in Kelowna? There are so many great wine tour experiences to be had in Kelowna. If you are visiting for a short time and only have time to do one it’s probably got to be our West Kelowna wine tour. We offer this in both a half-day (for those short on time), and a full day who want to take their time and enjoy the fine cuisine of lunch at a winery. You’ll get to visit some of the most famous wineries in the Okanagan such as Quails Gate and Mission Hill. In addition, you’ll get to visit some of the hottest newer wineries such as Crown & Thieves or the spectacularly recently renovated Mt. Boucherie Winery. Plus the very popular Frind beach winery and the Hatch wines. If you have more than one day or it’s your second or third wine tour in the area, then you need to experience East Kelowna and Lake Country. Both are also sensational and unique!
-
Do you offer private wine tours?Bare wine tours specializes in private tours where you can customize elements of your wine tour to suit your taste and you don’t need to mix with other people outside of your group. For example, you can add a dinner reservation at the end of your tour and know you have a safe ride home afterwards for your party. For special occasions, corporate and more intimate exclusive events, a private wine tour is the right choice!
-
What is a public wine tour?A public wine tour is one of our daily excursions to a specific Okanagan wine region. Wineries and lunch venues will be pre-selected and you will join up to 3 other groups in the vehicle. They are ideal for small groups, couples, and those on a budget. The wine tasting experience is still superb and it’s often a great way to make new friends, have fun, and socialize with others.
-
Can I adjust tour times? Our private tours are flexible. Our public tours often do not have a lot of wiggle room. Tour times reflect the opening hours of the wineries and the logistics required to deliver an awesome day. If you have any special time needs, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate.
-
What are the best places for wine tours & tastings in Kelowna? If I was doing a wine tour in Kelowna for the first time, and I didn’t have a tight budget, I would obviously do a private tour with Bare Wine Tours. In addition, my itinerary would include visits to Mission Hill winery, and Quails Gate winery. I would stop for lunch, a tasting, and a stroll on the beach at Frind beach winery. Then I’d finish the day with visits to Black Swift winery and Crown & Thieves.
-
Is food included?Lunch reservations are included on our full-day wine tours, but the cost of lunch is not included. Guests order à la carte and pay the restaurant directly. Please account for this in your budgeting and inform your guests. We can absolutely work together though to make reservations at an appropriate venue for lunch. We are able to provide more casual lunch options such as a food truck stop, and catered picnic charcuterie platters. This is a good choice for those on a budget. Restaurant and dietary requests are welcome, but are not guaranteed. Bare Wine Tours is not responsible for communicating food allergies, dietary restrictions, and guests should inform the restaurant of such upon arrival. We may adjust the restaurant location as per restaurant availability, group size, guest requests, and other factors.
-
Are winery tasting fees included?Tasting fees are included in our pricing. There may be additional costs for certain wineries and experiences but you will be notified of all options prior to your tour. The number and variety of wines offered at wineries is at the sole discretion of the winery, but it is typically 4 to 6 tastings. Most places offer red, and white wines. Some offer sparkling, fortified wines and ice wines.
-
Is gratuity included in your pricing?Gratuity is not included in our tour pricing. 10% - 25% tip is customary for the service industry in Canada dependent on your experience. We don't believe gratuity should be assumed and automatically charged. We believe it needs to be earned and we will always try to exceed your expectations with great service. If at any time you should be dissatisfied for any reason, we would appreciate a call or message. We pride ourselves on always evolving to deliver a first class experience.
-
Are wine tours worth it?Our wine tours offer great value. All tasting fees are covered which today is typically $10 to $25 per venue. So with 5 venues tasting fees can be up to $125. On top of this you’ll have a first class service from an assistant taking the time to reserve appointments at all the venues and to plan the logistics of your day with your best interests always in focus. Almost all wineries now require appointments ahead of time and book out fast in peak season May - September. In addition, you will ride in a pristinely clean, and comfortable vehicle with Spotify music selection at your fingertips. You'll also get a dedicated, courteous and entertaining guide for the day. Did we mention we provide fresh snacks, chocolate, cheese and spring water with every tour. Rest assured, your comfort and safety is our top priority. Have peace of mind knowing you will be touring with a commercially insured, and appropriately licensed guide and tour operator company.

How much is a wine tour in Kelowna?Wine tour pricing varies quite a bit depending on whether it’s a public (where you join others) or a private tour. It’s also dependent on whether you choose to do a half-day (3 - 4 hours) or full-day tour (6 - 8 hours). In addition, if you choose certain wineries or premium tasting experiences then the cost can creep up. In general, the cheapest wine tour today starts at $119 + GST per guest for a half-day public tour. What is the largest group size you can accommodate?Providing we have availability, we can accommodate tours with up to 120 guests and are experts at working with our trusted winery partners to create a sensational experience no matter your party's size. As some wineries are not designed to accommodate large groups we may need to stagger vehicles at each winery. Also, not all wineries in an area may be available for selection. We encourage large group or corporate parties to reach out to us for a personalized quote.
-
What are the limits to your pick-up zone?We offer complimentary pickup and drop-off for wine tour guests in the central Kelowna area and to those in the same region as their wine tour e.g. Lake Country accommodation for Lake Country Wine Tour.
