The Vibe

There is a quiet confidence at 8th Generation that comes from over 230 years of family history. While the winemaking is rooted in German precision, the atmosphere is pure Okanagan — relaxed, sunny, and welcoming. The garden tasting area is a particular highlight, offering a lush, shaded space to escape the valley heat. It’s a place that feels established and meaningful, yet completely accessible.

The Experience

The tastings here are informative and professional without being stuffy. Whether you’re tasting in the air-conditioned wine shop or the large garden, the WSET-certified staff provide insightful details about the vineyard practices and the Schales family history. It’s a great stop for those who want to learn about the technical side of winemaking in an engaging way. They also offer BC-sourced snacks to elevate your tasting flight.

The Wine

The Schales family brought their expertise in cool-climate varieties from Germany, and it shows in their exceptional Rieslings. Their "Integrity" and "Confidence" Frizzantes are Okanagan summer staples — bright, bubbly, and incredibly food-friendly. They also produce small-lot Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that consistently win awards. Every wine is estate-grown and reflects a commitment to sustainable, high-quality viticulture.
