The Vibe
Few wineries in the Okanagan carry a backstory as genuinely wild as Dirty Laundry. The name comes from a real piece of Summerland history — in the late 1800s, a Chinese immigrant-operated laundry in town served as a discreet front for gambling, illicit drinking, and other activities that the local businessmen's wives preferred not to know about. The "dirty laundry" of what went on there became the whispered subject of ridicule and scandal — and a perfect name for a winery that has never taken itself too seriously. Every wine label, every piece of decor, and every name on the menu carries a knowing wink to that colourful past. The result is one of the most atmospheric and immediately distinctive winery stops on the entire Bottleneck Drive — a place where the story is as enjoyable as the wine.
The Experience
Dirty Laundry offers one of the most complete and versatile visitor experiences on Bottleneck Drive — making it an ideal anchor stop for any Summerland tour. The shaded pergola patio, cooled by misting fans on hot Okanagan afternoons and overlooking the vineyard rows and Okanagan Lake beyond, is widely regarded as one of the finest outdoor dining settings in the region. The Red Iron Grille serves freshly made forno oven pizzas, smoked meats, and seasonal specials from 11am — the kind of casual, delicious food that pairs beautifully with a glass of Hush Rosé on a warm afternoon. For groups wanting a more formal wine experience, the Elevated Tasting pairs exclusive wines with curated food accompaniments in a guided, seated format that showcases the full range of winemaker Mason Spink's portfolio. The wine shop stocks eclectic merchandise, made-to-order charcuterie boxes, and the full range of estate wines — and the on-site beer bar means there is genuinely something for everyone in the group.
The Wine
Winemaker Mason Spink produces a bold and fruit-forward portfolio that has earned serious recognition on the national stage — most recently the Double Gold at the All Canadian Wine Championships for the 2020 Bordello, a rich and expressive red blend that has become the winery's flagship bottle. The portfolio spans crisp aromatic whites including Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, and Sauvignon Blanc, a perennial crowd-favourite Hush Rosé, and a range of reds that deliver the warm, generous character of the South Okanagan in every glass. The wine names — Bordello, Hush, Madame's Vines, Secret Affair, Woo Woo Gewürztraminer — carry the winery's playful personality right through to the label, making them among the most gifted and talked-about bottles of any winery on the trail.
