The Vibe
Ciao Bella is the kind of winery that makes you forget you're on a wine tour — in the best possible way. Tucked behind a family home on the Westside Wine Trail, the experience centres entirely around the backyard picnic area, a sun-drenched oasis nestled between the wine shop and the vines that visitors consistently describe as feeling like Nonno's garden. The Fiume family hails from Napoli — patriarch Luigi grew up farming near Naples, while matriarch Melina comes from Somma Vesuviana, a village historically renowned for the fertile volcanic soils of Mount Vesuvius and its magnificent wines. That heritage isn't just a backstory — it's woven into every bottle, every label, and every interaction you'll have here.
The Experience
There are no grand tasting rooms or formal tour itineraries at Ciao Bella — and that's entirely the point. Guests are welcomed by family members, seated in the garden, and guided through a tasting at their own pace with zero pretension and genuine warmth. Wood-fired pizza arrives fresh from the outdoor oven, Spuntini boards are loaded with premium Italian meats and cheeses alongside tomatoes and fresh basil from the estate garden, and a scoop of handcrafted gelato makes the perfect finale. Three generations of the Fiume family work the vineyard and serve the wines, and guests who ask about the family's story — told through photos on every wine label — are in for one of the most charming moments on the entire Westside Wine Trail.
The Wine
Don't let the backyard setting fool you — the wines at Ciao Bella are serious, award-winning expressions crafted with Italian sensibility and Okanagan terroir. Made in a dry, crisp, and refreshing Italian style with particular attention to fruit notes and natural aromatics, the portfolio is led by a Pinot Nero that has won Best Pinot Noir in BC and taken home two national gold medals at the National Wine Awards of Canada. The Pinot Rosé is a perennial crowd favourite — fresh, dry, and subtly complex — while the Pinozannte, an Italian-style rosé Frizzante, opens like a celebration and is perfect for a warm afternoon in the garden.
