The Vibe
Frind Estate Winery is unlike anything else on the Westside Wine Trail — or anywhere in North America, for that matter. A long, tree-lined driveway leads you onto the historic Bennett property, once home to former BC Premier Bill Bennett, where a beautifully landscaped lakefront estate unfolds before you. The tasting room is bright, airy, and modern, with clean lines and an easy, welcoming energy. Out back, picnic tables stretch across a manicured lawn all the way to the water's edge, where guests sip wine on a private beach with the mountains of Kelowna reflected in the lake. Whether you're here for a casual afternoon or a special occasion Dome Dining experience, Frind has a way of making every visit feel effortlessly memorable.
The Experience
The sheer variety of ways to enjoy Frind is part of what makes it so popular. A standard tasting of any five wines costs just $10, making it one of the most accessible on the trail, while the elevated tasting with deluxe charcuterie steps it up beautifully for $50. Annie's Beach Café is a destination in itself — dream-worthy pastries, wood-fired pizzas, artisan coffee, and casual bites served indoors or on the beach patio. For something truly special, the Dome Dining experience seats groups of four to six in private climate-controlled domes on the lakefront, with a set multi-course menu paired course by course with Frind wines — one of the most unique dining experiences in the entire Okanagan. The winery also offers guided tours of its cutting-edge production facility, giving wine lovers a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at how technology and farming intersect here.
The Wine
Founded by tech entrepreneur Markus Frind — who sold Plenty of Fish before turning to his true passion of farming — Frind Estate draws on over 400 acres of estate vineyards spread across four growing areas, including BC's largest contiguous vineyard. The portfolio is broad and approachable, led by Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay, Viognier, and the popular Frindzante sparkling wine. Chief winemaker Corrie, formerly of Mission Hill, brings serious credentials and a global perspective to the cellar, crafting wines that balance everyday drinkability with genuine Okanagan character. The flagship Big Red blend and the luscious Viognier Dessert Wine are standout bottles worth seeking out.
