The Vibe

Kalala means "Miracle Place" — named after a village legend from the family's homeland in Northern India — and it's a name that feels entirely earned. Tucked away on West Kelowna's upper bench, the winery is easy to miss if you're not watching for the signs, but those who find it consistently describe the experience as one of the most genuinely moving on the entire Westside Wine Trail. This is a family winery in the truest sense — founded by Karnail Singh Sidhu, an engineer turned viticulturist who arrived in the Okanagan with a vision to farm organically and let the land speak for itself. The tasting room is unpretentious and warm, located right inside the production facility so guests feel the authenticity of the operation from the moment they walk in. Regulars report being greeted by name, having their favourite wines remembered, and returning season after season because of the genuine human connection that defines every visit.

The Experience

Tastings at Kalala are relaxed, unhurried, and deeply personal — particularly when Karnail himself is on hand to guide guests through the story behind each wine. The tasting room sits inside the working winery, giving guests an authentic look at organic wine production that larger estates simply can't replicate. Standard tastings are complimentary, with icewine tasting fees donated directly to local charity — one of the most quietly generous gestures on the trail. The outdoor picnic area overlooking Okanagan Lake is a beautiful spot to linger with a glass after your tasting, and private vineyard tours led personally by Karnail offer a rare and deeply enriching behind-the-scenes experience for those who book ahead. For groups seeking something intimate, educational, and genuinely inspiring, Kalala is an outstanding choice.

The Wine

Kalala's philosophy is beautifully simple — allow the varietal characteristics and terroir to express themselves fully, with minimal intervention and maximum respect for the land. All wines are crafted from 100% hand-picked certified organic grapes, producing a portfolio that spans light, crisp aromatic whites, bold Okanagan reds, and one of the largest collections of organic icewines in BC. The Dostana premium label is the jewel of the lineup — the Dostana Merlot took double gold at the All Canadian Wine Championship, while the Chardonnay Icewine earned gold at the prestigious Chardonnay du Monde competition in France. The Aspire and Dostana Riesling are perennial visitor favourites, and the icewine lineup alone is worth the trip up the hillside.
