The Vibe
Quails' Gate has a rare quality that only comes with decades of getting things right — a warmth and confidence that puts every visitor at ease the moment they arrive. Set on a stunning south-facing slope above Okanagan Lake at the foot of Mount Boucherie, the estate feels genuinely timeless. The tasting room combines contemporary style with old-world hospitality, and the sweeping lake views from the patio are among the most beautiful in the valley. This is one of those wineries that earns its reputation not just through accolades, but through the consistent quality of every single interaction.
The Experience
Quails' Gate offers one of the most complete visitor experiences on the Westside Wine Trail. The guided Estate Family Tour takes guests through the history of the Stewart family, out into the heritage vineyards, and finishes with a tasting of award-winning wines in the historic Allison House wine library — one of the oldest homes in the Kelowna area. For something truly memorable, the Yacht Cruise & Tasting takes a small group out onto Okanagan Lake for an afternoon of exclusive pours guided by a senior wine educator. Back on shore, Old Vines Restaurant is widely regarded as one of Canada's top winery dining destinations, with a seasonal farm-to-table menu and a patio that makes it very hard to leave.
The Wine
Quails' Gate has built its reputation on two pillars: exceptional Pinot Noir and elegant Chardonnay, both shaped by the estate's cool-climate lakeside microclimate and mineral-rich volcanic soils. The proximity to Okanagan Lake moderates temperatures beautifully, preserving the bright natural acidity that defines their style. The portfolio stretches from the approachable and food-friendly Estate Series to the Rare and Collectible Anniversary wines — complex, age-worthy bottles that reward the patient. Their Plume label, inspired by the graceful plume of a quail, explores distinctive valley expressions beyond the estate and is well worth seeking out for adventurous wine lovers.
